Vale: Brian Brenton
On Thursday 19th December Brian lost his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Brian was 78 years old and had been a Small-bore shooter during the late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s.
He loved shooting and was largely responsible for the establishment of clubs in Manilla and Gunnedah. He was the driving force behind Gunnedah hosting the Nationals in 1974. This event was widely recognized as a great event with a few memorable highlights. One being Don Brook shooting 599 and equaling the then World Record. The 20-minute speech that Russell Dove made when opening the toilet block was also memorable.
Some other highlights for Brian were Managing the Small-bore teams at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and The World Championships team in Caracas, Venezuela also in 1982. He also Managed a team comprising Don Brook, Yvonne Hill and Russell Dove on a trip to Europe about this time.
Brian is survived by his wife Mary, children Paul, Phillip and Kerrie along with their families.
